Area scan camera MV-CH120-90UM V5

The MV-CH120-90UM V5 from HIKROBOT is a monochrome area scan camera with 12 MP and a USB 3.0 interface. Its Gpixel GMAX3412 CMOS sensor in 1.1" format works with a global shutter, and at full resolution the camera delivers 30 fps in Mono 8.

Technical data

The 4096 × 3072 pixels measure 3.4 µm × 3.4 µm each. HIKROBOT specifies a dynamic range of 66.6 dB and a signal-to-noise ratio of 39.7 dB. Exposure time is adjustable from 6 µs to 10 s and gain from 0 dB to 6.1 dB, and binning and decimation are available at 2 × 2 or 4 × 4. The camera connects via USB 3.0 and also runs on USB 2.0. Power comes over the USB cable, typically 2.4 W at 5 VDC, or with 5 VDC to 24 VDC through the 6-pin connector with one opto-isolated input, one opto-isolated output and one bidirectional line.

Operating conditions

The camera is operated at -10 °C to 50 °C and stored at -30 °C to 80 °C, at 20 % to 95 % relative humidity without condensation. At 29 mm × 29 mm × 30 mm, the C-mount housing is shorter than that of the GigE version and weighs approx. 80 g.

Applications and selection

The camera suits dimensional, edge and surface inspection at 30 fps. IP40 applies only with lens and cables properly installed and does not protect against water. For network and PoE there is the GigE version MV-CH120-90GM V5 with fewer frames per second, for color images the MV-CH120-90UC V5.
