Area scan camera MV-CT3CA0250/G/C/NN

The MV-CT3CA0250/G/C/NN area scan camera from HIKROBOT is a color camera of the CT series with an XoCLink interface and C-mount. Its sensor offers 25 MP with 5120 × 5120 pixels in a square image format and captures color images through a Bayer filter, for example for inspecting printed circuit boards and displays or in photovoltaics.

Technical data

The Gpixel GMAX0505 CMOS sensor with global shutter has a 1.1" format and a pixel size of 2.5 µm × 2.5 µm. At full resolution the camera delivers up to 20 frames per second in Bayer BG 8; further pixel formats are Bayer BG 10 and 12, RGB 8, BGR 8 and Mono 8. The dynamic range is 62.3 dB, and the exposure time ranges from 12 µs to 10 s. It is powered with 9 VDC to 24 VDC through the 8-pin M8 connector, which also carries the inputs and outputs, or via PoC over the data cable; typical power consumption is 2.7 W at 24 VDC. The housing measures 29 mm × 29 mm × 33 mm and weighs approx. 90 g.

Operating conditions

The permissible temperature range is -30 °C to 50 °C in operation and -30 °C to 80 °C in storage, at 20% to 95% relative humidity without condensation. The IP40 rating applies with the lens mounted and the cables connected; it includes no dust or water protection.

Applications and selection

Color images are needed when colored components, cables or labels have to be told apart or parts are sorted by color; the lighting should be white for this. Behind the Bayer filter each pixel measures only one color component, so the monochrome version MV-CT3MA0250/G/C/NN with the same sensor resolves edges more finely. The color models MV-CT3CA0050/G/C/NN and MV-CT3CA0120/G/C/NN with fewer pixels deliver more than 20 frames per second.
